Back to School GIVEAWAY: Vibrating Alarm Clock

August 7th, 2014 by | Tags: , , | 24 Comments »

It’s almost time to go back to school… which means getting back in the routine of early morning wake-ups!  Vibrating alarm clocks are a great solution for people with hearing loss, and Harris Communications has generously partnered with Cochlear Implant Online to donate a brand new alarm solution for one lucky reader to try: the TCL Vibe™ by Amplicom™!

TCL VIBE

The TCL Vibe™ is an ingenious new design that gives users the choice of an extra loud alarm (great for those with residual hearing), a vibrating alarm, or both!  Unlike traditional bed-shaking alarms, though, the TCL Vibe™ uses a small vibrating wristband to help you wake up.  This is great for people who share a room, share a bed, or have difficulty waking to traditional under-the-pillow vibrators.  It’s a discrete solution that gives people with hearing loss the independence to wake up on their own.  The clock is tiny, so it can also be used for travel.  It is available for pre-order on the Harris Communications website and is set to arrive early September 2014.

Many of our readers write in to ask how they can help their children with hearing loss become more independent.  Taking responsibility for their own wake-up time is one great way to instill independence in a child with hearing loss.  Other readers are making the move to college this fall, and the TCL Vibe™ is perfect for shared dorm rooms.  This giveaway is great for couples, too — you and your partner (with or without hearing loss) can wake up at different times without disturbing each other.

So… what are you waiting for?  Make back to school time a little more fun by entering to win a new toy!  This giveaway is open to readers from the United States and Canada only.  The raffle will close at 12 AM Eastern Time on Thursday August 14, 2014.  Good luck!

Entering this contest for my daughter, who sure could use this type of an alarm clock. Progressive hearing loss, one ear a CI candidate, but still has good speech recognition. She just finished college and is putting in her 4000 hours of required work before she applies to grad school

My goal for my daughter’s school year as a 1st grader is for her to wake up on her own and start her school days on the right foot. This girl sleeps deep, probably because it is so quiet before she puts her CIs on for the day. :-)
