Carole’s Story

March 20th, 2011 by | Tags: , , , | 2 Comments »

Carole is an adult who grew up with hearing loss and wore hearing aids for most of her life and did not know that she was a candidate for cochlear implants until 2007.  Carole is such a funny, outgoing and sociable person who has an incredible positive attitude about her hearing loss!  She shares her journey to hearing with cochlear implants in a video:

I really enjoyed listening to Carole: what a lovely lady! And I was listening to her – the subtitles stopped working about 8m in in both videos and I was amazed to understand her well without lipreading. That I can understand a deaf American lady through hearing alone tells me how far I have come with my own implant which is normally only exposed to British accents! Thank you to Carole for telling her story and to Rachel for giving me a learning opportunity.

Hi Serena,

Thank you for your comment and letting me know about the subtitle issue. I just corrected the issue. Please let me know if there are still problems.
