Cochlear’s HOPE Program offers a variety of articles and live/recorded seminars on re/habilitation and cochlear implants. The courses are given by some of the best professionals in the disciplines of Audiology, Auditory-Verbal Therapy, Speech-Language Therapy, and Education, and are available for free at the HOPE Website.
Now, Cochlear is taking this program to even greater heights by offering a series of six (6) courses in Spanish for parents and professionals. According to Cochlear:
Cochlear Americas is offering six upcoming HOPE Online courses in Spanish! These will be given live on April 28 and 29, 2009. The courses will be recorded and archived for use at any time, though we welcome live participation so that parents can ask their questions directly. The course instructor is Lilian Flores-Beltrán Ph.D., LSLS Cert. AVT, an international recognized therapist, speaker and trainer. Sign-up is via the HOPE area of the Cochlear Americas website at www.cochlear.com/HOPE or via the direct links below. The HOPE Online courses in Spanish are free, though attendees must sign up in advance. An Internet connection and a way to listen (i.e., speakers) are needed. Please help us reach the families who would benefit from this important educational opportunity.

As a Texan, I see every day the number of bilingual Spanish-English speaking families with deaf children in need of high quality listening and spoken language services. While my Spanish speaking abilities are passable, they are certainly more suited for everyday conversation than for therapy. It’s an area in which I could use some improvement, and I am so grateful to Cochlear for offering these seminars. I cannot wait to listen in!
Please pass this along to anyone who might benefit from these Spanish seminars. ¡Gracias!
