Scholarship Opportunities for US Students Going to College

March 1st, 2011 by | Tags: , | 3 Comments »

No one can deny that colleges in the US are outstandingly expensive.  Financing college education is certainly harder for people with hearing loss as they have higher expenses in terms of covering cochlear implant surgeries and sound processor upgrades. I complied a list of scholarships for US students with hearing loss who are going to college soon.

All of these scholarships have requirements based on having hearing loss or a general disability or overcoming obstacles.

Sertoma Foundation
Minnie Pearl Scholarship
Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf
Graeme Clark Scholarship
- This scholarship is available only to Nucleus cochlear implant recipients.
The Linda Cowden Memorial Scholarship – This scholarship is available only to applicants living in one of the 16 counties in Tennessee listed on the page.
The Travelers Protective Association of America
Google Lime Scholarship for Students with Disabilities – This scholarship is available only to rising juniors and seniors in colleges and majoring in computer science, computer engineering or a closely related field.
California Association on Postsecondary Education and Disability Scholarships – Available only to students attending colleges in California.
Microsoft Scholarships for Students with Disability
Horatio Alger Association Scholarships

Great information. My daughter is a sophomore in HS and next year we need to start planning. She is a bilateral CI user..
