Why is access to cochlear implants so low in the US?

I also think that cochlear implants lag behind because Medicare will not provide a rejection letter for Medicaid insurance that many clinics will not do a second cochlear implant for deafened adults regardless of how successful the first cochlear implant is.

I am being denied a 2nd Cochlear imlplant because Boystown will not do the 2nd surgery until they get a rejection letter from Medicare then they can bill the Nebraska Medicaid. My CI is doing fantastic but I have felt that I need a 3nd CI for my right ear to balance my hearing and feel strongly it would improve my ability to understand people and sounds around me more.
